It's been decades since Earthlings discovered the vastness of space and, with it, the discovery of new ways to develop superpowers. These powers come from various sources, from wielding old medieval weapons to mastering magical spells, or even from genetic mutations, technology, and otherworldly creatures.

Welcome to the Indominant universe, where adventure and excitement are at every corner. In this universe, Earthlings have joined forces with Sinereans, Emergils, and Chromids to create the Intergalactic Defense Council (IDC) - the leading alliance of the universe. The IDC brings together a multitude of species, and their military force, the Galactic Legion United (GLU), trains Supers far and wide. As part of the GLU, Supers can be called upon to undertake missions to protect and defend a city, planet, or even an entire solar system. They are given ranks based on their level of power, accomplishments and heroics, the lowest being F tier, and the highest being SS Tier.

As the IDC continues to grow, adding new species and worlds to its group, Supers have made a name for themselves all throughout the Galaxy. It's time for you to join the ranks of these extraordinary beings and create your own legendary story. Are you ready to discover your own superpower and take on the challenges of the universe? The adventure begins now!

With their ability to influence minds and emotions, psionics are able to shape the world around them in ways that few others can.

Archetypes

Get ready to unleash your inner superhero with five unique archetypes that cater to all playstyles! Whether you want to smash through mobs of enemies or take on towering lava golems, our archetypes have got you covered. These archetypes are our fresh take on the most popular RPG character types.

  • Are you a ranged combat lover? The Arbiter is your go-to support archetype! They are masters at keeping their allies safe while hindering their enemies’ movement and attacks. Their abilities can even make enemies easier to take down.

  • Do you want to deal the most damage to your enemies possible? Then you want to be a Blaster! They specialize in ranged damage dealing and put their own defense on the back-burner. But don’t worry, they rely on their allies to protect them and pin down enemies so they can finish them off.

  • If you prefer getting up close and personal, the Bruiser is for you! They’re tough as nails and capable of dealing out serious damage. Bruisers are also great at controlling their enemies, as long as they can get close.

  • As a Guardian, you are the ultimate tank and support character. You’re the front line of your team, and always have your teammates’ backs. You’ll do whatever it takes to make yourself the prime target of your enemies and keep them at bay.

  • Do you want to be the most mobile combatant in the universe? Then the Hunter is the perfect archetype for you! With a mixture of ranged and melee capabilities, they’re capable of wading in and out of combat. Hunters work best when they sneak up on enemies from their blind spot, catching them in their most vulnerable state. So, which archetype will you choose to become a true Superhero?

Talents

Talents are what makes your Super unique! You will find that every Archetype molds their chosen Powerset to suit what that Archetype was designed for. As you face challenges and learn more about how your Powerset works, your talents will add more functionality and strength to the fights and deeds in front of you.

With Each Powerset and Archetype combination there are 10 Tiers for Talents, earning Talents at Level 2 and every even level up to level 20. Each Tier of Talents has 3 Talent Options to select (so 30 total per Powerset/Archetype Combo!) In some cases the options per tier are:

  • Defensive, Offensive, Supportive Talent

  • Boost in a Stat, Increase in Damage, Increase in ability to Hit

  • Unique Archetype Modification or Boost to Powerset’s Inherent Affect ability

  • Unique Powerset Modifications or Boost to Archetype’s Archetype Abilities

With all the combinations of Talents, Powerset, and Archetype, one exact Archetype and Powerset Combo playing on the same team can be entirely unique because Super Team members can adjust based on their teams needs and focus.

Well What if I do not like my Talent selection, is it permanent? Talk to your Comic Editor and roleplay how your Super shifts from Defensive to Offensive, from Powerset Inherent affect Modification to a different Archetype Ability Boost, the thematics are endles but the mechanics are a quick swap over on your Character Sheet!

Have a crew of pyromaniacs? Well Arbiter/Fire , Bruiser/Fire, and Hunter/ Fire will all have uniquely defined Talents making them entirely different on the battlefield while still using the same Powerset!

Maybe you want to be a magic wielding private eye? Or a technology laden vigilante of the night? Or just maybe a crime fighting high schooler just trying to get by? The backgrounds and origins has all the exact options you need to really hone in on that character you want to build!

Backgrounds

  • If you choose to be a Hero Background, you will work as a registered hero in either the Galactic Legion United or the Intergalactic Defense Council, striving to complete heroic deeds to climb the ranks. One of the advantages of being a hero is having a steady salary, housing, and food budget. Additionally, as you progress through the ranks, you will unlock better benefits. While you have full control and freedom to solve problems within your jurisdiction, you are only allowed to use GLU Resources that correspond to your rank. However, there are also downsides to being a hero, such as dealing with bureaucratic red tape and jurisdictional restrictions. Furthermore, it can be difficult to act as one of the people when you are seen as a representative of the GLU or IDC. Roleplaying as a hero can be exciting, as you navigate the fine line between following orders and doing what you believe is right, all while balancing your obligations as a hero and a member of society.

  • Contractors are the ultimate problem solvers, with a range of skills and resources at their disposal. They can be private investigators, mercenaries, bounty hunters, and more. As a contractor, you have the freedom to go wherever you want and do whatever you need to do to get the job done. You have a network of connections and informants across the universe, giving you access to valuable resources and information. However, your moral ambiguity can lead to distrust in certain regions or with certain entities, and you are always walking a fine line with the law and governments. With high risk comes high reward, and as a contractor, the potential for profit and prestige is endless.

  • The Vigilante Background is for those not content to sit on the sidelines and watch the world go by. They take it upon themselves to make their community a better place, using their own unique skills and abilities. Vigilantes have great connections with the local people and can blend in easily with the average person thanks to their alternate identity. They have the freedom to go wherever and do whatever as they already operate outside of the law. However, they are entirely self-funded, which means they need to carefully consider how to allocate their funds. Upgrades to their super suit may have to wait until the bills are paid. Additionally, Vigilantes are not always taken seriously by larger legal entities and often have to act alone. But, for those with a strong sense of justice, the Vigilante path can be a rewarding one.

  • This background is for the entrepreneurial type, whether it's a lawyer, business enthusiast, Jr. executive, or anyone seeking a big payday using their newly found skills and powers. Suits have great connections with people in business, and potentially a few favors to collect. The law tends to be on their side, which is helpful when they get into trouble. They usually have some cash or a way to get it for new endeavors. However, some favors may need to be paid to previous partners, and depending on where they go, someone might recognize their previous business deals more easily. With this background, Suits can create their own super-powered startup or invest in someone else's.

  • The Researcher is a knowledge seeker, someone who weaves together intricate pieces of information to master their powers or learn magnificent and ancient arts and information. The Researcher has learned to defend themselves, but they seek to grow their powers to either help others or help themselves meet their goals. They are welcomed in by most libraries, technology archives, mystical arts academies, and other research facilities throughout the universe. The Researcher loves to have conversations about highly detailed technical, magical, or intricate works, and can usually find someone interested in the same. It doesn't take much sustenance to keep their mind and body healthy, as knowledge is ultimately what makes them energized. However, the Researcher is often humbled by others stronger than them, which may be a reason to seek more power through their powers. Additionally, they can be forgetful of small things like returning books to the same libraries they travel to, and long nights of study may have led to getting kicked out of a few places.

  • The Drifter background is perfect for players who prefer a more solitary lifestyle, with a focus on survival skills and self-preservation. These players excel at improvisation and are adaptable to any environment, making do with whatever resources they can find. They often have close relationships with other drifters, who offer them shelter and information. However, the law is suspicious of them, and they may have to deal with occasional anger issues when plans go awry. While they may not be the traditional heroes, Drifters still have a valuable role to play in the universe and can offer unique perspectives and skills to any team they join.

  • This background represents a villainous character trying to climb the ranks of a powerful and shady organization. The pros of this background include connections with a vast network of individuals, including those on the other side of the law, and access to backup, gear, and funding, provided that you remain loyal to the syndicate. Additionally, there are often many escape routes available to avoid getting caught by the law. However, being a member of the Criminal Syndicate comes with its share of risks, such as being viewed as a major threat by the Galactic Legion United, who are always on the lookout for the syndicate's activities. Furthermore, crossing a ranking member can lead to severe consequences, such as being barred from accessing any of the back channels or resources that were previously available.

Origins

A Super’s Power Origin is the way that they got or have their powers or skills, and can be used to understand how they may get stronger over time as they adapt to their newfound powers.

  • A Super with the Technology origin gains their powers or skills through the usage of or enhancement by technology be it computer electronics or tech so advanced it could hardly be distinguished from non biological forms.

  • A Super with the Magic origin gains their powers or skills through the usage of or enhancement by magic. Magic could be traditional fantasy magic or far fetched high sci fi, allowing for a robust way of customizing how your magic works.

  • A Super with the Mutation origin gains their powers or skills through the usage of or enhancement by genetic mutations. Was your Super born with a gene that has recently activated their powers? Were they blasted by gamma rays changing their DNA makeup?

  • A Super with the Science origin gains their powers or skills through the usage of or enhancement by some form of science. Did your super seek ultimate power, life, or knowledge and mixed multiple chemicals together hoping to make the perfect recipe, or completely in the wrong place at the right time when struck by lighting?

  • A Super with the Natural origin gains their powers or skills through their natural abilities, or through development of skills. The absolute perfection of the body’s limit is only the start of your supers quest to become the strongest weapon in the galaxy, how did they master their physical limitations? Or did they only master push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and running?

Species

With our species types system you can live out your fantasy of being a cyborg honey badger strapped with weapons, (not kidding by the way) to your hearts desire! The system allows complete freedom of creative choice. Here are just a few of the options coming to the game!

  • Humans from Earth, and other species from around the universe that highly resemble them. One of which is the Krigorian species which resembles the mythological earth creatures known as Sasquatch. This type of species is highly adaptive and capable of various abilities and skills.

  • Includes the The Sinerean and Emergil species. The alien type species are strikingly different physically from humanoids, they may stand erect like humanoids but they may have any number of limbs, or other features that humanoids have.

  • Creatures that resemble wild animals from Earth or other planets, but are highly intelligent and are intellectually on par with the likes of humans or other similar creatures. Some examples of HI-Cs are: the Genniki species, a genetically modified bear, a cyborg honey badger, and many more.

  • Made up of robotic, biotechnical, mechanical, or other similar species. An example is the Chromid species. They are generally made up of metallic materials or are fabricated or produced via artificial means.

  • Beings that are able to naturally produce and absorb forms of energy based on how they evolved. An example is the Veliken species, which can produce and absorb light. Their origin often comes from the farthest reaches of the universe, and they can come from planets affected by cosmic explosions, black holes, supernovas, or other high energy phenomena.

Refined System Mechanics

Indominant features many system mechanics that can be found among other TTRPGs, but with our own spin. We have condensed mechanics that are similar or share functions into one and simplified other mechanics that can be confusing. In addition we mainly focused on combat mechanics and kept them concise and clear in their function, while we have created the skeleton for social and role playing mechanics and leave the rest to the groups of players because those are difficult to structure in a full-fleshed way that works for everyone.

And So much more…
