Backstory

Sorena is a relatively young Sinerean female. She is of the Subspecies known as the “Opulents”. She is also an adept magic user, who has a natural affinity for Ice magic. She was one of the researchers of the 3 seemingly radioactive Moons. Shortly after she was promoted within her research team she was tasked to go onto a very risky, and dangerous mission alone to collect material samples from one of the moons. 

While on the mission she was attacked by Singraad and her protective suit was damaged, leaking in the mutating radiation of the moon. She barely escaped with her life to make it back to the surface of Cora-94, the Sinerean home planet. But, due to her suit’s damage, she received a large dose of radiation from the moon, and she was not able to collect the sample of material that she was tasked with retrieving. She seemed miraculously unchanged by the radiation upon her return and medical assessment. But later that evening after receiving a clean bill of health, she fell asleep that night and began to change! 

In her sleep she had nightmares and visions of what she thought to be the Moon God that the Singraad believe in. When she awoke her skin had turned light purple, the first sign of Sinerean Moon Sickness, and her ability to use magic had vanished. Her peers, as generally stuck up Opulents, were disgusted by her sudden change. But they felt it was pertinent to study her so that they could try to understand the changes, and learn more about Sinerean Moon Sickness, as this would be the first mutated Sinerean that was able to be studied. 

After weeks of practice and nightmarish visions in which she continued to speak with the Moon God, she began to be able to perform magic again, but she was limited to performing her magic at very short distances, and mostly only to cover parts of her own body. As time went on the studies of her proved fruitless and her magical powers continued to grow, becoming much stronger than they were before. The mutations she underwent seemed to almost be non-existent, at least not physically, until she joined the GLU and met Gar’Zal, a little Emergil tinkerer who discovered a way to view magical auras and presence using Thauma-Tech. Sorena is now friends with Gar’Zal and an active researcher in the GLU, searching for a way to cure the Sinerean Moon Sickness.
